Somehow, I managed to create my first blog post Taking the Plunge… with a strange URL for this blog entry which was somehow appearing as:
Note the URL ends with “first-post.” Do what? How can that be? I’m not sure how that got there, but I needed to change this to reflect my actual blog title.
The easy way to change this is to click the [Edit] button located just below the blog title.
Then, clear out the text box, then click the [OK] button:
WordPress will then use the current title for the blog link:
Hopefully, this simple step-by-step is helpful to someone else.
It’s been 5 years since I graduated from college with a degree in communications and I’m a bit disappointed that I’ve not pursued my passion in writing. Perhaps it was the immediacy of income from opportunities with managing a business and developing other skills. Regardless, “it’s better to be late than never” in getting started with my writing career.
Whether it’s been implementing new processes to improve sales tracking, operational efficiencies, or launching new business initiatives, I’ve always been compelled to share my own experiences with others who might be overcoming similar challenges. With the accessibility of the internet and proliferation of social media and mobile devices, I have the opportunity to make a drastic shift from the day-to-day routines of business operations to one that challenges me creatively.
So… I’ve decided to “take the plunge” and pursue a new career as an online writer using this blog as my launch pad. There is so much for me to learn and I’d be lying if I said I had this all figured out. The truth is, I have no idea how well I’ll do or if I’m any good. In the past, a common advice I’d share with people I work with is “fake it till you make it.” In other words, you gotta start somewhere and this is my first step. Over the next few months, I anticipate making quite a few missteps on this journey to finding and establishing my online voice. However, I look forward to growing both professionally and personally, engaging with new people, and reflecting back on how far I’ve come when I finally get there.
